The Pursuit of Happiness

“You think that the goal is to be over there, and we say the goal is the journey over there; the goal is the fun you have along the way on your way to over there.” --Abraham/Hicks

In our American culture we have been taught to believe that once we achieve the goal happiness will be ours to hold.  Be it a house, a job, a car, more money or a relationship; thinking that happiness is outside of us, an external event, and often in the hands of others. Yet, what happens when the dream turns into a nightmare? In a session with Antonio a dear client, who was confused and distraught over the break up with his girlfriend.  Antonio asked me, “Kelley, why did three different psychics tell me that Ashley was my soul mate?”  The woman of his dreams was sleeping around and had the audacity to inform Antonio that if he would just buy her an expensive diamond she would commit herself to him exclusively.  I sat still and listened intensely to his sad story, inside I felt this is not love, but Ashley’s ego relentless battle for manipulation and control.  Love’s illusion can get the best of anyone of us, and not only did this gentle romantic Latino male not achieve his goal of merging with his soul mate; he was instead, to his dismay, gaining a valuable life experience.

I don’t know how you feel about the subject of soul mates, but I have grown wary of this overly used saying.  Experience has shown me that soul mates come in all shapes and sizes.  You have little soul mates and you have big soul mates.  The love of your life may be the Super Sized soul mate, the big “S”, the one you dream about, the one you will never get over… often referred to as the Twin Soul.  However, we need to stay in the present, and live in the Now. We need to see people for who they are and not idealize them into what we want them to be.  We need relationships to grow, evolve and for happiness. We attract the unwanted for the contrast not for punishment. So that we can state to Self and the universe I don’t want this type of person, I desire a healthy, happy, solid, and productive partner.                                                                                                                                                            Antonio was not getting the “bigger picture,” he kept on pushing me to reveal “where is my next soul mate? When, where is she?”  Antonio, instead of asking me about the arrival of your next soul mate, I said why not reflect and learn from what has just happened to you?  Moreover, he needed to change/shift inside first, so that he was no longer attracting the materialistically driven beauty queens.  We are taught to believe, the solution is outside of us, to replace the person, like replacing a car a fast fix remedy to our problem/pain. As a result, many people run from relationship to relationship only to realize the pattern has not changed, and that the faces change, but it is still the same type of person showing up and we end up at the beginning… perhaps a little more beat up and worn out too.  Working on Self may not be fun, but it is the only way to see real change in our external affairs, relationships, work, etc.  “I don’t ever want to go through this kind of pain again!”  He exclaimed.  Hallelujah, Houston I think we are making contact, Antonio now you’re getting it! Go out and date, live your life. Be happy with you first, and hang loose on any commitments or women you deem your soul mate.

Additionally, after the growth occurred internally, Antonio would see the change externally in the type of lady showing up in his life; perhaps wisely choosing one that was in alignment with his core values.  A woman who was spiritual, kind and faithful would work wonders in Antonio’s life.  “It's ever so much more satisfying to get into a blissful place and attract a blissful person and live blissfully hereafter than to be in a negative place and attract a negative partner and then try to get happy from that negative place.” –Abraham/Hicks

If you want to attract your soul mate; you need to be a soul mate to yourself first. That is, you need to love, appreciate, and respect yourself.  The Law of Attraction states ‘like unto like is drawn.’  If your soul is crying out for a partner, love Self first, and then Let Love In.  Go where the love is, accept and receive love. Love is something you get not earn.  Above all else, the whole reason we are here is for soul evolution--to evolve, for the expansion of consciousness-- to expand, to be happy, and spread joy.  If that requires some painful relationship experiences, in my humble opinion it is well worth it.  “Each time you acknowledge your power, learn a lesson, practice compassion and kindness with others, you have achieved enlightenment. Each time you forgive yourself and others you have achieved enlightenment. These are soul level victories over lessons that you may not have been able to accomplish in prior lifetimes. To be enlightened is to move closer to the light, to raise your vibration, to strengthen your Source connection and to remove the layers of karma that have been burdens for many lifetimes.”- -Archangel Uriel

An Action Adventure Aries Hero Has Arrived

The Aries New Moon on Tuesday April 17, 2007 puts a fire in the belly that stimulates the inner warrior. There are battles to be fought, although it is far more constructive to apply the energy to a project or task that could use a creative push. Powerful Pluto is harmonizing with the Sun-Moon at this time empowering us to focus on that which we desire be it a relationship, a project, a new job, a promotion, a personal victory, or a move.  Penetrating Pluto and action adventure Aries Sun-Moon can help us to sustain the spark of excitement and produce lasting results.  Pluto also focuses our attention on and purges us from ideas and activities that distract us from our central purpose.  We have the opportunity to eliminate our illusions of fear and suffering and move to a place of truth and love.

"Destination Addiction"

The pursuit of happiness is written in our U. S. constitution.  However, it is the pursuit that is guaranteed not the happiness.  Happiness is 100% our own personal responsibility. Happiness is not in some far distant place it is inside us right now in this moment, if we choose it.  In the book, “Happiness Now,” Dr. Robert Holden expresses that many people have “Destination Addiction”  That is they live in the ‘Not Now,’ chasing after the dream, some future event, the what’s next, the move, and my happiness is over ‘there.’ It is true that life is not an event it is a journey.   Our mission or goal is to be happy now.  Your happiness is your greatest gift you give to your family and children. We lead others by example.  Why not dare to let your life be great?

Moreover, Dr. Holden believes that we are taking more of a risk Not to follow our joy.  That we die before we die, meaning that we die a little bit each day; If we are not taking risks, and living from the inside out following our passion.  People not only need a job, people need a purpose, Purposeful Living.  We need a purpose to get out of bed in the morning and tackle the day.  People need to feel they are making a difference, a contribution, and that their life matters.  In whatever shape or form this may be for each person, why not dare to live authentically, driven by your soul, and heart’s desire? Aries proclaims that we need to burn the past and move forward feeling alive and engaged.  Why not take a vow of kindness with Self and with others? And support the happiness of others.

Time to take a Giant Step Forward

On April 19, 2007 serious Saturn moves forward after being retrograde since December 5, 2006.  We are being asked to take a giant step forward. How big that step can be depends on what we have been doing over the last five months.  Have you eliminated the drains on your energy? Have you set healthy boundaries? Are you focusing on what truly matters to you?  If so then things will really begin to blossom for you.  Saturn’s capacity to make things real is reinforced by the Suns entrance into earthy Taurus on April 20, 2007. The Taurus cycle is here to remind us of the richness of nature and the bountiful resources available to nourish our soul and fuel our ambitions.  What would you dare to dream if you knew you could not fail? What are your core values? -Discover your Life Purpose as expressed by your #1 Core Value.  “What comes from life experience is advancement of the universal evolutionary process. Participate fully and bring your world to its highest placement. You are of God.” –Ivo/Lisa Dorr
